A new year. It’s time to turn the page on the calendar. It’s a time to start over.
For many, a time to start over means resolutions…..to lose weight…..to get healthy……to be more present…..to workout…..to cook…..to organize your home……to travel…….to stop smoking……whatever your resolution may be, good luck.
Here’s hoping that 2017 is your best year yet!
The weather hasn’t reminded us that it’s winter yet. (we did have a few days last month that were brutal) But, I can assume cold, snowy days lie ahead. And when they arrive, here’s a nice warm, comfort food for your to enjoy. I’ve shared a few chili recipes before. This one is just as good, and just a little bit different. I wouldn’t share it if I didn’t think it was worthy. 🙂
Classic Hearty Chili
1 pound Ground Beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 Tablespoons Seasoning Salt
3 Tablespoons Chili Powder
1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (start with less and add more as you go)
2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic or about 3 cloves
2 (15 oz.) cans of Diced Tomatoes
2 (15 oz.) cans Kidney Beans, drained
2 Tablespoons Light Brown Sugar
Heat a large pot over medium heat. When hot, add the ground beef, onion, seasoning salt, chili powder and cayenne. Cook, breaking up the meat, until the meat is no longer pink. Stir in the garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add 2 cups water, the tomatoes, kidney beans and the sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and cook until the chili thickens. Approximately 35-40 minutes.
Top with your favorite chili toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, jalapenos, corn chips, guacamole…..
